Vintage Touches, Timeless Feel

A Look Inside One of Our Recent Projects- Northlake Charm

Designing someone’s first home is always special. But when our clients asked for something that felt elegant and cozy, with a little old-soul charm, we knew exactly the direction we wanted to take things. This project is cottage-inspired, layered with thoughtful vintage touches, and grounded in comfort.

One of our favorite details? The oversized checkered tile in the bathroom. It brings a traditional feel, but the softer contrast and larger scale give it a fresh, modern twist. It’s calm, clean, and adds just the right amount of pattern underfoot.

Throughout the home, we incorporated aged brass finishes in the hardware and fixtures. Nothing too shiny or trendy, just soft, warm tones that pair beautifully with the natural wood and neutral paint palette. Each brass moment helps the home feel curated, but still approachable.

In the kitchen, one of the most meaningful moments was the set of open walnut shelves, milled from a tree that once stood on the property of our client’s father’s childhood home. After his recent passing, it meant so much to her to be able to bring a piece of that history into her new space. We were honored to help preserve that memory and give it a central place in her home. It’s the kind of detail that adds depth far beyond aesthetics.

In the laundry room, we added one of our favorite little moments: a subtle floral wallpaper, paired with a natural wood shelf and framed art. It’s often a forgotten space, but this one feels like a hidden gem. We love giving utility spaces a bit more attention.

We also pulled in curved details where we could, from arched mirrors to soft-edge tubs to the lines of the sconces. These shapes make everything feel a bit more lived-in and relaxed, without trying too hard. They bring a softness to the home that balances out the structured cabinetry and finishes.

The color palette was rooted in soft whites, warm woods, and hints of coastal blue, creating a calm, welcoming energy. It’s the kind of home that feels traditional, but not stuck in the past. Relaxed, but still elevated. And just the right amount of nostalgic.

This project is proof that vintage-inspired design doesn’t mean outdated. With the right materials and a clear vision, you can create something that feels layered, soft, and timeless from the moment you move in.

If you’re starting your own design journey, whether it’s building, renovating, or just picking paint colors, we’d love to help guide you. Let’s make your home feel like yours, from the start.
